The Circular Economy x Climate Justice
Climate Just Collective (November Publication)

By Megan Light & Ellen Salter
November 2020

In this month's edition, we focus on the cross-sectionality of the circular economy and climate justice.  Find out more on the introduction to the circular economy below and access useful resources (read, watch and listen).

As shown in Harry's recent article 'RIP GDP', it is clear that our linear economy needs a new alternative. Our take-make-waste culture is unsustainable both environmentally and for our societal growth and development. It's a system which no longer works for our cities, our people, our planet nor supports human rights and collective action.

By transitioning towards a circular economy, we can change our systems-thinking and adopt novel approaches and mindsets towards designing, making and re-using technological and biological systems within our planetary boundaries. This circular economy is based on three key principles:

  • Designing out waste and pollution

  • Keeping products and materials in use

  • Regenerating natural systems

In this November edition, we explore how accelerating the transition involves us all. Explore our pillars to learn more:

Inclusive Cities: The Venus Project, Circularity & Infrastructure, Georgia Waste Article
People & Planet: A Circular State of Mind, Doughnut Economics Action Lab, The Search for Planet B
Human Rights & Wrongs: Corona, Class & Climate, The Just Transition to the Circular Economy, Circular Fashion

We also continue with raising awareness for individual and collective action - what you can do and what others are doing - find out more at The Collective: Energy & Circularity, The History of Environmentalism (Part 2)
